We wanted to find a fun way to share some of the self-care tips shared by the community during a recent #WxAISocialSaturday. We strive to create a platform where women can learn, connect, and accelerate their success.

The WxAI team created "WxAI Magic Care 8 Ball" with the power of prompt engineering and some low code tools. We decided to test a new tool: Convex Chef.

Chef is an innovative app builder that allows you to generate real-time full-stack applications from a single prompt.

Built on Convex, the open-source reactive database, Chef streamline the app development process for us.

Inspired by the fantastic self-care suggestions shared within our community, such as:

What if we could create a fun, interactive tool to provide instant self-care recommendations to our community members? This is how the concept for the "WxAI Magic Care 8 Ball" was born!

But how do you go from an idea to a functional web application? This is where the magic of Convex Chef truly shines. Instead of writing lines of code, configuring databases, and setting up user authentication, we just used prompts!

Here’s a glimpse into the prompt-driven process we used with Chef:

• Initial Prompt: "I want to make a magic 8 ball app called "WxAI Magic Care 8-Ball". This name should be used for the title of the page, the label of the app, and the html title that shows in the tab bar of the browser. The primary button color for the app will be "rgb (97, 77, 176)". In it, users will come in and be presented with two options: Get a self-care suggestion, or suggest a form of self care. If they choose to get a self care suggestion, they will see an image of a magic 8 ball. I can provide the image, and when it is clicked on, I want to substitute the image for a gif for a couple seconds. Please do not create the animation, and instead give the ability to switch out the src of an img tag for the magic 8 ball and then I can provide the correct src. Then it should show one of the self care suggestions from the database at random. The user should then be able to report the suggestion as inappropriate if needed, but this should not be a large feature but one that is offered. Suggestions do not need to be approved to be shown as a suggestion, but if they are reported they should not be shown again. The self care suggestion should be displayed below the magic 8 ball after it is picked. Put the suggestion in a nice little box that makes it look pretty with rounded edges. If the user wants to suggest a self care tip, they should get a textarea they can type in and a button to submit their tip.

  After the user submits a self care tip, it should display the following message: "Thank you for helping the WxAI community level up their self-care. 🌷 ✨"

  
  

• Refinement Prompt 1 (No login needed): This app does not require any user authentication or sign-in.

  
  

• Refinement Prompt 2 (Adding Styling): The default view should be the magic 8 ball and then below it should have the option to suggest a new tip.

  
  

• Refinement Prompt 3 (Adding In App Instructions): Add an instruction under the header to click on the magic 8 ball to shake it and get a self care suggestion.

  
  

Convex Chef's ability to build real-time full-stack apps directly from these prompts meant we could envision a seamless user experience. The tool would handle the underlying database (Convex), user sessions (via built-in Convex Auth), and even deployment – all based on our text-based instructions!
